Archival Services and Fees

Experienced and qualified Certified Archivist with over 28 combined years working in museums and archives with a focus on the preservation of family papers, photographs, business records, scrapbooks, ephemera, and born digital items. Archival services and fees are listed below. Services and fees

Listed below are the archival services offered and their respective fees. Pricing does not include any travel expenses. If travel is required, costs will be based on current Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rates for travel reimbursement including, mileage, transportation, meals, lodging, and any incidentals required to complete the project, including but not limited to, parking fees, copy/duplication fees. 

Archival Needs Assessment

An Archival Needs Assessment will thoroughly examine your program, identifying and addressing specific organizational needs, operational efficiencies, facility and storage concerns, and collection management issues. The assessment will pinpoint problems, recommend solutions, set priorities, and guide the development of your archival program. This process includes an in-person or virtual site visit, a report, and follow-up services, as appropriate. The cost of this service is $135.00/hour plus travel expenses. 

Digitization

Digitization of photographs, slides, negatives, and documents up to 11" x 17" either black and white or color, can be accommodated at my office. The cost of digitization projects are calculated using the Digitization Cost Calculator, plus shipping costs. 

 

For on-site digitization projects, the cost will be calculated using the Digitization Cost Calculator, plus travel expenses.  

Family Papers

Organizing your family's papers can be a daunting task. If you need help deciding what to keep, how to best organize your papers, or assistance in finding a permanent home for them, I would be happy to help with this process. This service includes analog and born digital items, with options for housing your family's papers and photographs in archival enclosures and boxes, digitization, and transcription. The cost for this service will vary, with packages starting at $135.00. Please contact me for more information. 

Preservation Survey

The Preservation Survey process encompasses a general evaluation of your institution’s preservation needs for the collections: environment, housekeeping, pest control, fire protection, security and disaster preparedness, collection storage, handling, exhibition, and treatment. Relevant staff members are interviewed to identify preservation needs. The main product of the survey is a report that includes an executive summary that identifies priorities for action, specific materials in need of immediate attention, recommendations for remedial action, and establishment of short- and long-term preservation goals. The cost for this service is $135.00/hour plus travel expenses. 

Transcription

Transcription services includes reformatting and transcribing handwritten documents in English or Latin to a word document or pdf. This can be done either remotely from my office or on-site. The cost for this service is $135.00/hour.
